I know, I know, dumb question.

I'm looking into a refurbed XPS laptop, and the info screen says it has a 15.4" screen...however, the Dell Outlet info page says laptops and desktops ship without a monitor.

    So WTF?
    Thanks.

You actually think they'd remove the screen and send half the laptop?!

I told you it was a dumb question :(

But thanks for answering it anyway. And you have a cute little dog in your avatar, so that's even better.

...Yes. At the time, I thought it entirely possible, since you can remove the screen to get a bigger one...right?

    That's my dog, not Jamie's!

ANd you never know, anything's possible. Even though I said it was impossible...

You can't remove the screen of a laptop and fit a bigger one, screen size determines the size of teh whole machine.

No harm in asking "dumb" questions, I've asked my fair share!

Eh, Jamie replied right before I submitted my reply to your post...

And to be honest, I thought you could remove the laptop screen. In fact, someone from this very forum said I could...he must have thought I was referring to a desktop.

You can remove the screen, but you have to replace it with one the same size.

    He is a cute dog!

Are you going to get the XPS?

I think the ships without a Monitor means no external monitor, since that is an option for most notebooks on the dell site.

Yep, doubt they'd pull the LCD. Although, if they did it might look like this: [IMG]

    Thats exactly what it means.
The notebook will come with a LCD screen, it just wont come with an external monitor.
