    Duo or turion 64??

    I am trying to decide which to get soon. I would wait for the turion 64 x2 but i hear it wont be that much faster and will problaby cost more then i want to spend which is under 1000$. but my main question is which one is faster?? Thanks

    It depends on what you're doing, but for the most part, you will see more apps that support dual core than 64bit processing. Go for the core duo. A plus to this also is you should be able to switch it out for a 64bit dual core merom when they come out, then you can have both!! :D

    The Turion X2 dualcore should be a bit faster than the Duo, less expensive, run cooler and of course be 64-bit capable. Finding either CPU in a notebook under $1000 may be tricky though. If you can wait, wait. Or get a good deal on a singlecore notebook now.

    The thing is that even though the X2 may be less expensive than a Core Duo chip, since Dell doesn't sell AMD processors you don't get their great deals/coupons.

    So I see that being a moot point for someone that doesn't mind owning a Dell and is just searching for the most bang for their buck. I was going to wait for the Turions but then I scored a fully-loaded E1505 for approx $1300 including shipping and tax (+ $140 for 2 GB OCZ RAM from Newegg) with 40% off + 12% EPP + $50 coupon.
