    Got my E1405 laptop today with the 9 cell battery. And fully charged unplugged with the wireless off, its saying 5 1/2 hrs. Where did dell come up with this 8 1/2 hr number?

    lt's probably if you have everything disabled and the laptop is just idling and not doing anything.

    turn wireless off and screendown. also shut down any background applications. you'll see an increase, i get about 5 1/2 hours on my E1705...yours should beat that
