Just got the 1405 with a dvd-rom drive, but I have an extra LG dvd-rw drive model: gwa-4082n from my old Acer, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this drive is compatible with my dell, thanks.

I dont see why not, it should be compatible. But of course, you will have to swap the faceplate from DVD-ROm to DVD+RW and you need to swap the "secure" thingy from DVD-ROm to DVD+RW.

As long as it fits in the optical bay it should work. You my want to take the bezel off your current optical drive and pop it in the DVD-RW drive for a better fit and a cleaner look if it fits your bay.
