    Dear experts,

I have a problem with my E1405 with its lcd backlight turned off about 1 second after opening the lid.

I can still see Windows running when I look really closely.

According to what I've read it's most probably a faulty inverter. So I bought a replacement off eBay and installed it. However the same problem still exists!

Can you suggest me what to do next?

    Thank you very much.

In these situations, if your inverter is known good, then then the problem is the backlight. Unless you're comfortable dismantling the actual LCD panel (to replace the backlight), it's time to buy a new LCD panel...

    Thanks commander.

Does that involve soldering, etc? If so, then I may have to just buy an external monitor.

Dismantling the LCD to replace the panel shouldn't require soldering... just a relatively dust-free area such that you don't get any dust between the layers.
