I updated the chipset, video and BIOS.

Afterward my PC occassionally does not go into Hibernate or Stand-By sometimes. Most of the time itr does, however there has been two occassions when closing the lid that the compuetr didn't go into Stand-By.

    Anyone else have this issue?

have you reformatted? I've lost track of who has reformatted and who hasn't.

No and I don't plan to. It worked fine for 3 weeks and only started after I updated the chipset, video and Bios in succession. So, my plan is to go in reverse order and reinstall the previous versions and see if that does it.

Well i was going to suggest is that junkware/software (even if it is remove) can cause you laptop to not shutdown or go into hibernation/standby properly. Even simple things like screensavers, services running in the background, etc can cause problems.

This is a frequent problem with XP.

Yeah, that was my first thought too ... But I haven't installed anything recently, except those updates. So, i deduced it was one of those three updates. Probably less likely BIOS.
