I cant decide between these two!!!!
I only play counterstrike and portability is an issue because its going to class and the library basically everyday.
The E1505 would be nice becasue I can get a X1400 for just a little more. However, the E1505 is bigger and heavier then the E1405 but it cant be by that much. In addition, Im sure the E1405 can play the counterstrike fine.
Does anyone have a pic of the E1405 next to the E1505???
Help!!!

CS will run, there's a picture of the e1405 next to the e1705. Or just go to a store and compare a 14.1" to a 15.4" from any brand to get an idea of size difference. -
Also CS:CZ plays fine at 1440 x 900. The size difference between the E1405 and the E1505 will be very noticeable: the E1405 is about a pound lighter and maybe an inch shorter in in both length and height (not depth)
If your referring to CS:S though, I'm not sure if it'll work on the E1405. I'm going to give it a try though and see what happens. I heard you can force it into dx7 so that should make it playable. -
its a huger performance boost from the GMA950 to the x1400..... worth the extra size and weight if you ask me; especially in your case when in you probably love to play first person shooting games. Its hard to just say "only" when referring to games; who know one day you might get bored with CS or your friends upgrades and switched to more modern games.

Hmm... seems like theres two of these threads...

honestly, if you really like playing FPS in your notebook and plan on continuing to play newer FPS (like FEAR), you're better off with a 7600 or x1600. but if these two are your only choices, go with the x1400. it can play those in lower settings. integrated grpahics should be avoided by people who like to game.

Toga, maybe you should fill out the FAQ, or atleast state your budget. Maybe there's an alternative system out there for you. 14.1" + Dedicated graphics = More money. I think integrated graphics should be a 'no-no' for you.
-
UPDATE:
I just gave CS:S a shot and apparently with everything on minimum at 800 x 600 it'll play. -
I only play condition zero. My budget is at most 1100 but I would like to keep it at 1000.
-
CS:CZ plays BEAUTIFULLY at 1440 x 900 on the E1405. I play aim_pistols + de_dust everyday on it and theres no slowdown.
-
With $1000-$1100 you can get both systems w/ pretty good configurations.
From reading your posts, it sounds like you want the more protable E1405, which also has better battery life. If you KNOW that you won't want to play any games that are more graphics-intensive than CS, then go w/ the E1405. If this isn't the case, then you may want to consider the E1505. -
Its just that I dont think I will use the X1400. Will the X1400 will not be able to handle games coming out next year?
-
-
No I meant "wouldnt the X1400 be more or less obselete by next year."
My point is wouldnt both be out of date regardless in a year? I plan on having this for 3+ years so I think both will be obselete the majority of the time I have this notebook. (I realize that the 950 cant play some games out right now). -
Yes, absolutely. You could get the x1400 now, and in a year there will be games that it won't be able to handle either. (in fact, a few even it can't handle as well as a desktop either).
Thats why I bought my laptop for what it is, and have a machine that I can replace the vid card in fairly easily for everything else.
Or, just get an xbox
If you're looking for more portability, get the 1405 -- I had a 15.4, and I am really glad I switched.
E1405 or E1505
