Why are people suddenly jumping to get the E1405 now that it is available? I personally chose the 1505 over the 1705 because of the 2" screen size difference, not wanting to carry around the extra bulk of such a large monitor.

Is the approx. 1.3" difference between the 1505 and the 1405 that significant? It seems that for the screen size downgrade, you are also giving up the option of a dedicated graphics card and a TV tuner (although the tuner with the 1505 is not internal).

Sorry about the rant, I just don't seem to get it.

Well yes, there isn't a huge difference in screen size, but there is quite a noticable difference in overall unit size.

But for people looking for dedicated graphics, unfortunately, are stuck with the E1505. If you simply don't game on your laptop, then the E1405 would be an excellent choice...

I got the E1405, I speced it through the roof.

I don't game on my computer so the integrated graphics isn't a problem.

What would you say for 'professional use', like internet, Office and pictures management?

What about the possibility to have the ATI X1400, only available on the E1505.

Do you think it worth the value?

    Thank you.

My wife wanted something between 12-14", no larger. I tried to talk her up a few times, as I enjoy my Asus z70v, but she insisted on something smaller, and Asus was a bit out of our price range. The E1405 is in her size range, and could be seriously upgraded while still being in the $1200 range.

The GMA 950 would handle that fine, if you plan to do gaming or video editing and don't mind the size difference then the E1505 is the way to go.

Note the E1405 has a better battery life with the default battery option so if you're going to be mobile then you might wan to take that into consideration.

If you are looking for a 12-14" notebook, 15.4 is pushing portabilty. It's just too big for some needs or wants. Simple really.
