I tried installing MATLAB R2006b on my Inspiron E1505. I received 3 CDs. Installation went OK with the first 2 CDs. But when I inserted the third CD the installation process stopped (installation window is open but the progress stays at 61% and "Scanning CD" message is displayed). Is this due to any hardware problems? Has anyone faced similar problems installing MATLAB? Thanks a lot.

Does your 1505 meet the minimum requirements for MATLAB?

I work with a MATLAB expert, so I'll ask him about the install issue tomorrow and see if he has any tips.

I checked all the system requirements and I have more than what is required. Thanks.

I installed matlab on my e1505 flawlessly...for all you know, since its failing during the actual setup, maybe the 3rd disc is corrupt. I have matlab 7, so do not know if its any different...

    Goodluck tho

if all else fails, copy the 3rd cd to your hard drive in a folder of the same name. then during install just direct the installer to that location. might work.

I had a similar problem with matlab 7. Disc 2 was giving me problems. I created an .iso file of disc 2 and mounted it in daemon tools when the installer asked for it. I think it worked this way because of error checking and correction during copy, or something.

    hope this helps!

When it asks you to enter CD3 ususally you can have the option to find the location of the file, so if you mount the CD on to your next CD Drive, so either E: or F: direct it to their, but you got to make sure you mount it to work
