    Hi guys,
I am going to purchase the laptop Dell 6400 today with the following specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 Ghz
    2 GB 667 mhz (2 x 1024)
    120 GB 5400 RPM drive
    DVD writer combo
ATI X1400 128 mb dedicated ram

Am getting this for the price of AED4700 or US$1284.

I wanted to know whether Windows Vista is stable enough for purchasing now or should I wait for some time.
The basic applications that i would be running would be Mozilla Firefox,Windows Live Messenger,NFS carbon, and few more.

    Thank you
    Pankaj

I just found out that Windows Vista Home Basic doesnt have the aero so that means i would go for Windows Vista Home Premium.

The only thing that i would be doing on my laptop would be surfing the net, using different applications, watching movies, burning dvds/cds,and playing games.
Windows Vista Home Premium would be enough for all this right?

All vista versions are pretty stable now. But compatibility with some of the applications are different story but things should be ok soon.

It would be a great idea to stay away from Home basic as it doesn't have aero feature, Media center and many other functions. Home premium would be lot better.

Number of CPU and number of cores in a CPU are two different things. Vista Home Premium supports Multicores but not more than one physical CPU
