    I'm looking for a dvd image of the hard drive, does someone know where to get one or is willing to sell me theirs. I have contacted Dell and they don't have any of those. I do have the original XP cd that came with the computer, but Im trying to get this laptop back to the shipped state. Have the hidden partitions and so fort. As Vista tryout made bad and removed all my partitions so I have no system recovery. So if anyone has the same laptop is it possible to get an image of yours?

    you would be much better off with a clean install, and you should never use beta software bulids, especially OS on a freaquently used machine, thats what old junkers are for, why do you need all the junk software?, thats all you'll be getting from a restore, I dont know if just an image from another sytem, even with identical specs would work, in fact it probably wouldnt, upon installation it records specifics about your particular cpu and a few other items,including serial #'s I believe and it uses that data to generate the activation code, I could be wrong, but I really dont think that would work
