When I'm in windows, I can't get the DVD to play properly on my new E1505. I have the T2400 (dual core 1.83 ghz) integrated graphics card, 80 gb 7200 rpm HDD, and not much installed yet. When I open Power DVD and play a movie, one of the cores maxes out according to task manager. This isn't normal is it? When in Media Direct, the DVD plays just fine. I'd like to be able to watch a DVD from windows, but I guess it isn't necessary, it just bugs me that I can't go to either Media Center, or Media Player, or directly to PowerDVD on this machine. This laptop should be able to handle this easily!
Anyone have any suggestions?

So what is the symptom in Windows? Is it just the CPU utilzation that is bothering you?
More info please... -
VideoLan is free and works well if you want to try some other software.

I'm sorry, in my haste to type the message (it was late!) I forgot to mention, the dvd playback is choppy. I turned off video accelleration, and it's watchable with just cyberlink, but in Media Center, it's unwatchable.
Thanks zazonz, I'll give that a try, but it'd still be nice to have the MC stuff work properly. -
Make sure your pc is not overheating -
Doesn't feel bad, and only one core maxes out, only when the dvd is playing. I've only played snippets in Windows because it's unwatchable.

I'll give this a try in a little bit. I have yet to watch a DVD on this yet.
One thing to keep in mind is that most software(99%) don't support using duo core hence it will only use one of the processors. So don't be alarmed if you see that most cpu intensive tasks only use 1 processor. But we know in the future, most software developers will write software to make use of the technology.

AHH Success!!!!! In a desparate attempt I placed the Windows install disk in (10 dollars well spent now) and had it reinstall windows (without formatting, so it "upgraded" windows). Once it finished...voila! DVD playback is smooth as silk, and doesn't taxi the CPU nearly as much... so so happy now, that was my only complaint on this thing!

P.S. I did try VideoLan before, but with no success, still stuttered, thanks for the suggestion though!

I am glad it's fixed for you. I was just going to come back to tell you that I tried a dvd and it worked perfect. I was using PowerDVD 6.0. I noticed it had a mobile option(power saving, etc..) I even tried it without the AC adapter, worked great then too. Of course I didn't watch the whole movie either. Anyways, all it matters is that it's fixed for you now..

Thanks Nebbie, I'm a happy camper now!
