I've had my laptop (e1505) for about a year and a half and that's about how long my warranty lasted...typical...anyway my power button and my mediadirect buttons don't work at all. I have to take out my battery and re-insert it for the laptop to come on and when it does come on it boots up media direct. The only way I can manage to navigate my way to xp welcome screen is to hit alt + crtl + del at the right moment and then my xp screen comes up and the computer works absolutely fine. When I turn off the computer the correct way this whole things starts over again.
Has anyone else run into this problem or does anybody have any insight into this problem, I would greatly appreciate it?

I have the same problem: I have had my E1505 for a little more than a year (no more warranty,*tear*) and of course I have a problem. I shut down my laptop correctly but then the next time I tried to turn it on, it would not power up at all (no blinking lights or anything.) However, when I took the battery out and put it back in, it did power on but it went straight to Dell Media Direct (and no, I did not hit the wrong button!) I have to do some multi-tasking in order to get Windows XP to load. I must snap the battery in, and then press the magic buttons, "ctrl + alt + delete." This is only way it will power on. Although, it will work fine without the battery and in that case I must plug the adapter in while I simultaneously press the magic buttons.

I'm ignorant (because I uninstalled MediaDirect) - does MediaDirect bypass your bios? Or does it still show DELL blah blah blah?

Honeslty, I'm not too tech savvy but I can tell you that it goes straight to the MediaDirect... no other screen at all. Atleast in my situation.
