I've just bought one of these second hand and have installed Vista 32bit Ultimate.

As I do a lot of photography I'd like to find a driver and colour management profile for it. Does anyone know where I'd find one? I've checked the Dell site and can't seem to find any.

Additionally I'm not sure which screen version I have - does anyone know how to find that out too?

    Thanks in advance

Can't help ya with photog stuff, but to find the resolution of your screen in Vista is pretty simple. right click on the desktop>personalize>display settings. The highest res will be shown-if not, move the res slider all the way to high.
My e1505 has a WXSGA+ which the res is 1680x1050.

    Video Standards
    XGA 1024x768
    SXGA 1280x1024
    SXGA+ 1400x1050
    UXGA 1600x1200
    WSXGA+ 1680x1050
    WUXGA 1920x1200

Wide XGA (WXGA) is a set of non standard resolutions derived from the XGA display standard by widening it to a wide screen aspect ratio. WXGA is generally understood to refer to a resolution of 1366×768, with an aspect ratio of 16:9.

Other resolutions have also been labeled as WXGA. These are the most common resolutions given the label (in ascending order by total number of pixels):

    1280×720
    1280×768
    1280×800
    1360×768
    1366×768

To find drivers for it, you need to know the graphics card. That's easy too! start>type in the bottom search bar in start-device manager-it'll pop up at the top>click on it> find the + next to display adapters and expand it(click on it) and it will show your graphics card. Here's the Vista 32-bit driver link for a Dell e1505 too!

Thanks for the reply. It's odd though because Vista is showing the max res as 1280 x 800 which isn't listed in your list there.

I've got the correct x1400 graphics driver so that's all cool. It's the profile for the screen which I'm still missing. It should also come with a .ICM file too.

The screen is listed as a generic monitor.

it'll say "generic monitor on____" like mine says "generic monitor on ATI x1400"
in display settings. If that doesn't help, look for your service tag, it's on the bottom of the lappy and go to Dell support and put that service tag in>go to original configuration page-and it should show the screen type.

Can't help ya with the .icm file-I have no clue bout that.
    :confused2: sorry

Ah ok - I'll check out the original configuration page when I get home :) Hopefully I'll know what monitor profile to look for then.

I basically want the "Generic monitor on ATI x1400" to change to something along the lines of "Dell Laptop LCD on ATI x1400". Of course that'll mean finding what ever that driver is.

that won't change-in my experience-says the same thing on my new 1520, "generic PNP monitor on NVIDIA GeFORCE 8600M GT", but then again, I never use those profiles. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
