I've got a brand new E1505 that I'd like to be able to play music on Winamp through, and everything works great, for the most part. I have it set up to "Do Nothing" when I close the lid of the computer, but if I do that while music is playing, the music stutters or skips briefly, then resumes playing fine. Is there anything I can do to eliminate this skip?

Try turning off Windows sounds. I think what happens is that even if you set it to "Do nothing" it does "something" and it will play a sound. I believe the skipping is from the sound card trying to play both sounds.

I think you are right -
Nope, that didn't work...upon further investigation though, the music skips when the screen turns off. Oddly enough, it does NOT skip when you re-open the lid and the screen turns back on...

Ill test it tonight later and let you know.. My guess is that could be something running in the background.. that or maybe PC is running slower and skipping things. Try this for fun in the mean time. If your using media center 2005. use the Media player to play the MP3s try something else other then winamp, See if issue is the same. If not, then its Winamp or a plugin there causing it.

My XPS M170 does this. Same thing with my girlfriends inspiron 6000. hmmm, I figured this was normal.
-
It doesn't skip continuously when I close the lid, just a skip when I close it initially as the screen goes off...
-
My M140 does it as well.

my e1705 music skips on wmp 10 while opening the lid (when the screen is turning on) and i tell it not to hibernate when closing the lid
E1505 Lid Close = Music Skip
