Is that normal for a hissing sound to come from the cpu when it is idling ? ... I noticed if I scroll with my mouse it goes a way for a few sec then comes back ... Playing games I don't see it all as well ...

    Anyone else see this ?

electrical buzzing sound? a type of 'whine' right? if so, count me in - same on the E1705. I'm thinking it might be the battery - after all, it is a Sanyo. LOL

As for a fix, I haven't recovered from my last Tech Support experience to try again... Maybe tomorrow I'll call them back.

This sounds just like the "whining"/hissing issue many people are talking about over on the Apple MacBook Pro discussion boards. The solution for the MacBooks seems to be to run an app to get the whine to stop.

Here's an extra-long thread about it: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=374397&tstart=15 (warning: it really is extra-long and will take awhile to load -- not modem friendly...)

Is this problem a "feature" of the new Core Duo processors? Do many of you with Core Duo notebooks have this "whine"?
