Hows it goin fellas. I have not been on here as much as I used to since building my desktop. I have never tweaked a laptop before (since this is my first one), as the title says I own an E1505, and i bought it with 2x1GB Samsung PC2 5300S sticks.

I am wanting to upgrade the memory (hoping for a boost of performance) to G.Skill ( http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16820231116 ). Both are PC2 5300, but will that make a difference at all? I was also thinking about going with PC2 6400.

Experts please chime in and help me out. BTW money is not an issue since the ram I am seeing tend to be under 75 dollars easily. Thanks again :)

So does your Dell already have 2GB of memory installed or are you planning on installing 2GB (2x1GB)?

No, i would say not to. Only change the ram if you are upgrading to 3 or 4gb

Your laptop will down clock the higher speed ram anyways.

There are no dumb questions, only questions not asked.

I would definitely upgrade to 4GB but you will never be able to see all 4 gigs. The reason behind it is your chipset, 945 I believe. It can address up to 4GB, but not all.

Didn't bother me with my E1705. I was fine with ~3.4GB in XP and around ~3.3GB in Vista. :)
