I ordered my E1505 back on February 27 before the link to ordering them was officially on Dell's site and it shipped from Nashville today! The ship date was March 30 when I ordered it and it was stuck on pre-production with the same ship date until I looked again today.

I only ordered it with 512 MB that I plan on s****ping in favor of 2 GB. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to purchase the memory from and whether or not to get 533 MHz or 667 MHz? I primarily use for the machine for developing software, web, email, music, etc. I only occasionally use it for games. The article linked below suggests going with 667 MHz if you have a dedicated graphics card which the E1505 has.

    Config:

    Core Duo T2500 (2 GHz), WXSGA+ TrueLife, 512 MB, 120 GB (5400), 8X DVD+-/RW, Intel PRO/Wireless 3945, 3 year warranty + CompleteCare, no software

Pricing at Home & Home Office:

    $2,022
    - $650 off $1,999
    - $35 off $300 (bought for $1 on eBay)
    + free shipping
    + $110.29 tax
    = $1,447.29
    + $26.37 back through Ebates

Get the 667Mhz since it's the same speed as the FSB.

No dedicated vid. card is your only problem.

Hi, It looks like you will have to remove the 512MB stick in order to upgrade. The best place to buy RAM is zipzoomfly.com or newegg.com. Newegg usually has prices that are about the same as ziipzoomfly, but then they don't offer free shipping. zipzoomfly ships everything for free via Fedex 2nd day air. As for the RAM, If I were you I would just get 2x1GB of DDR2 533. The 667mhz RAM is really expensive, and you won't see much of a difference anyways. zipzoomfly right now has 1GB of Corsair 667mhz for $99 free shipping. But I have seen sticks of 1GB DDR2 for as low as $65.

Yes - but you don't want to go the "cheapo" route - I say stick to reputable RAM brands like Corsair and Kingston.

Yep, I planned on throwing away the 512 MB that came with it. I wish they had an option for 0 MB when ordering. =)

    I went with 2 x 1 GB of

    Corsair DDR2-553 PC2-4200 Value Select

    for $80 each at ZipZoomFly.

    Thanks for the advice.
