Anyone want to hazard an educated guess or insider news as to when any X1450 GPU's will begin to appear on E1505's?

Not sure! BUT...the only real difference between the X1400 and the X1450 will be a little power savings. Otherwise...spec for spec...the two cards are the same

They need to offer up an X1600 and be done with it.

The demand is there and it helps bridge the gulf between the X1400 and the 7900GS.

The E1505 has to be more popular than than the E1705, based solely on size.

while I doubt there will be any higher level cards coming out for the e1505 period, I would guess if they did they would go with the gf7600, its built upon a smaller die, thusly producing much less heat

I would think the X1600 would be a better bet than the NV7600 given that it performs better and that Dell has been using only ATI for the e1505 thus far. The demand is certainly there, I can only think there are other reasons (manufacturing, marketing?) for not offering a X1600/NV7600 in the e1505.

    Stupidity? lol

Make it a build to order component. $$$

Make E1505 extremely competitive in class. E is entertainment, we want DVI out and near level game cards on these things so we can be entertained!

Actually you are incorrect in assuming there will no performance benefit, there may be a 33% performance benefit, raising 3dMark06 from 900 (X1400) to 1200 (X1450), compared to 1800 (X1600).

The strained silicone process did not just yield better power per watt, it allows the chips on the X1450 to run faster, and still be within a power saving mode over the X1400. Keep in mind the GPU speeds up under load just like the CPU.

the e1505 had the gf7300 as an option for awhile, as far as the 1600/7600, they would have to totally rework the heat pipe to accomodate the card, its not just faster in terms of mhz, its a larger chip, with largely double the active components, 8-12 pixel pipes vs 4. It could be done, but it would be expensive, and this far into the lifespan of the machine, its not going to happen, I doubt we will see any new vid cards, aside from the possible refresh card(x1450) in any of the current models, theres a new platform on the horizon, and any advances will go there

I think Asus gets first dibs on the new cards before they get to Dell.

You will probably see a 3% increase in performance.
