Hey guys!
Sorry this is long. I posted it in the accessories forum, but didnt get much response..was wondering if you dell guys have a better idea on this.
Basically, I have a 2.5 year old Dell E1505 with ATI x1400 on it. I just bought a new Samsung T220HD monitor and I love that thing. But, when I first hooked it up and everything and ran dual monitors, my external screen flickers about once every 5 mins. Then when I adjusted a few things, the external screen stopped flickering, but my laptop screen started to flicker, once every 5 mins or so. When I watch tv on my this monitor (it has a tuner built in), there is no flickering, and when I use my external monitor as my main monitor (by closing the lid of my laptop), there is no flickering.
The next day, my external started to flicker once again when using dual monitors and then when I left and came back later in the day, my laptop screen started to flicker without my external flickering... and sometimes, both neither flicker for the longest time.
Basically, do you think that I have a faulty monitor, or is it my GPU? I have to know pretty fast to decide whether to send my monitor back in the mail and get a new one. Would it be the VGA cable? ( I highly doubt it though) The refresh rate for both is 60hz.
My laptop was overheating a while back (80 C for CPU and 60C for HD) BEFORE i got the monitor but i have been using a cooler. I made sure that my laptop was not overheating when using the monitor...
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this long post. I really appreciate it.
Please let me know what you guys think is the problem. Much appreciated

What's the monitor refresh rate? I've seen flickering lcd's stop by reducing the refresh to 60hz in your display properties.

My refresh rate is 60 HZ and it still flickered...
Any other ideas? Neither my external monitor or my laptop screen has flickered yet. Do you guys think it is a GPU or my monitor or something else?
