    Hey there! :D

Ok go here: www.support.dell.com, for the guide (for install).. :D

And, here are 2 good HD's to check:
Check out the Hitachi brand, or the Western Digital Black 320gb.

You can find at newegg.com, zipzoomfly.com, etc! ;)

    Hope that helps!

    Cin ;) :)

You don't have to update your BIOS to upgrade your HDD.

thanks. even with a 320GB HDD?

also since this laptop is about couple yrs old, would it be better to just get a portable HDD instead of upgrade?

Yes, even with a 320GB HDD. As for whether or not you should upgrade; it really just depends on your preference. If you want more space on your machine without the need of lugging around an external device, there's nothing wrong with an HDD upgrade. Else, with an external solution, your total space will be greater (320GB plus whatever you have now), but you have a less portable solution.

Everyone has their own hard drive preferences. One will say Hitachi drives are the worst the next will say Hitachi are the best.

I am a Hitachi fan, because I have had terrible experience with seagate and western digital in the past. Hitachi has never failed me and I have nearly 20 hitachi harddrives. The E1505 will easily recognize a 500gb drive. That is the largest drive I have tested in my E1505 and it is recognized perfectly fine.

I recommend looking into the Hitachi 7K320 or the WD3200BEKT

Buy the drive at newegg or zipzoomfly, they have better prices than Dell. Zipzoomfly usually has the 7K320 for $50 after rebate, which is an insane deal.
I have a 7K320 in my Dell E1505, and it has had no problems in the 2500hours I have on my 7K320
