thinking of getting the E1505, but how long do you think it will last untill it becomes outdated?

this is with 1gb memory, and the x1400.

for games, probably within a year. for other programs you probably have a good few years on there, and it should run vista with no problems.

If you mean graphic card wise, then yes in about a year from now. Any laptop you buy this year will be out of date with in a 1 - 1 1/2 years from now. There will be much sharper cards than the 7800 next year.

Buy your laptop this year.. then 2 years from now get a new one. Your X1400 SHOULD be able to play some of next years games on low settings.

If you want something to last a long time then get a desktop where you can upgrade graphics.

Hmmmm, Im trying to think if I should get this now. I dont want to buy it then find out a year later I cant evan play new games, evan on low settings.

I guess my main concern is if it will run the WoW expansion or not :p

When DirectX10 games start coming out, none of us will be able to play them. Whether DX10 takes over completely next year or the year after is yet to be seen. Personally, I would suggest looking elsewhere at an Asus laptop (an s96j or w3j if you wanna go 14"). It'll have an x1600, which will far superior to the x1400, and customer satisfaction is higher. However, it might cost you more. I don't know for sure about the WoW expansion, but if the original game runs on an x1400, I don't see any reason the expansion wouldn't.

In terms of media/office use, the e1505 should last a while and it doesn't look half-bad either. On the gaming front though, the card struggles on a few current games (had to turn everything way down on fear) , so it might last you about a year.

Umm for usual apps that notebook would last about 3 years
thus for gaming , you'll never know , may be it'll last more than 1 year

my desktop with X300 could run COD2 and oblivion in about medium setting with no lag which surprise me
