I was going to buy a new labtop for college use and am a bit undecided which to buy. I want something that has good battery life (so opting for 9 cell), as well as something that has decent portability as I plan to use this labtop to take notes in class etc. I'll have a normal desktop at home for regular use. That said, I am an avid computer user and would still like to purchase something that has a nice visual quality and not sacrifice performance.
Originally I had settled on getting the E1405. I figure the screen size was a small price to pay for the extra light weight and portability over the E1505, plus it has better battery life. However I have been hearing bad things about the E1405 screen.. horrible glare issues and severe light leakage. Also from my understanding the 9 cell battery extends past the base of the notebook and sticks out. While not a big deal, it's something that I am not too fond of for cosmetic reasons, and might even get in the way.
I could not find anyone stating these particular issues with the E1505 hoever, so I assume that the E1505 does not have the screen quality issues that are being reported with the E1405, or is the problem apparent in both models? Also wondering if the 9 cell battery stays flushed within the E1505, or does it stick out like the E1405.
Any response would be appreciated, as well as comments and advice for which to go for. Judging by the problems that seems to exist with the E1405, and assuming these don't exist with the E1505, I might go with the E1505 instead, but I'm worried that it might be too big to constantly carry around campus and the battery might not last long enough for an entire days use.

I have an E1505, the 9 cell does not stick out any extra, and it will last up to 6 hours... I always have wifi and BT on, and the screen on full brightness. I still get respectable battery times. I like my screen, but some complained when the E1505 first came out. I think it may be the different screen manufacturers (Samsung and LG, I have LG). Hope this helps.

How can you get 6 hours. The most I can get is 4 1/2 -
I've never tested it to 6 hours, but it's supposed to last about that long. I'm sure it would if I turned off wi-fi, BT, and lowered the screen brightness to the lowest setting. I just don't like using it that way...LoL. My point was that I still get a respectable time (probably in the 4 - 4.5 hr range) with the way I use it. I would imagine it would last all day with 1 hr spurts of note taking here or there, plus some other usage easily, but I can't swear to it. I can give a decent example... Yesterday I got home at around 5:30 and grabbed the computer at ~ 6. I surfed the net periodically, and used it here or there for a few hours, and downloaded ~ 290 mbs of podcasts from iTunes (it had been used off and on all day by my wife (probably more off than on as the batt was still in the high 80s to mid 90s when I got to it)). At ~ 10 I started troubleshooting my PDA and syncing it to the computer, downloading and reinstalling software. After about 30 minutes, the battery light flashed. So, I had to plug it in. Also, the other day the batt was on about 60% when I decided to watch a movie, so I popped in a movie, put the screen on full brightness, and turned off the wifi and BT, and plugged in the self powered, external speaker system. It lasted about 1.5 to 2 hrs into the movie (after I tried to run it in MediaDirect and it wouldn't so I went through a restart or two of that, and booted back into windows) before I noticed the amber LED flashing. From what I've read of other's battery performance, this wasn't too bad.
Generally, I come home ~ 5:30 and the computer will stay on either in use, or on standby until my wife and I go to sleep at 10 or 11, or 12... And sometimes the battery indicator has come on, and sometimes it hasn't.
E1505 or E1405
