Hey guys, I have a Dell E1505 and recently I had my computer shut off and when I turned it on it would go straight to the Media Direct screen, after hitting exit a couple times it would go to the windows splash and thats when it stops working and reboots.

If you don’t care about MediaDirect then try fixing the MBR. Boot with the XP installation disk and log in to the recovery console, type fixmbr.

I cant remember exactly, but I think you can also repair MediaDirect 2 using the MD installation CD (or there is a downloadable bootable CD image to fix it), in either case, if you manage to get XP working again, then you can try that also (if you still want to have MD).

I really dont care about media direct at all to be honest, but can I use just any windows xp installation disc? Because, everything I have is factory installed.

    Yes you can.
More info about Windows XP Recovery Console.
If fixmbr doesnt work then try fixboot.
