I have the e1505 as my home/personal computer. I was recently given a Latitude D600 as a work computer (it's kinda crappy). Provided the HDD is the same size, I could just pull the HDD out and pop it into the e1505 with no problems, right? Is there something else I should be looking for?

Yeah the interface that the hard drive uses to connect to the computer. It's either SATA or PATA, and I'm pretty sure that both of them use PATA, but check to make sure.

They use SATA, as far as I know. You should be able to just swap drives but be aware that you will probably need to reformat or at the very least update all of your drivers because the two laptops have different chipsets and components.

I would try and wipe the drive completely before trying it in your E1505, or because of driver problems your system might crash or something. Once it's formatted, reformat windows on the new drive.

I agree with Jason - you don't want foreign drivers running on a computer (even if its the same manufacturer's drivers). It can create havoc on your notebook.

Swapping hard drives won't work. The D600 uses PATA hard drives whereas the E1505 uses SATA drives.

i'm not sure what you're ultimate goal is, but you still have the option of getting a case for a 2.5" drive and making an external drive (if you're ultimate goal is just hard drive space).

My ultimate goal was to run my work applications on a good computer. I was just planning on swapping the HDD out.

i do not believe that would work because you would need to reactivate windows
