How do you install the Nvidia drivers?
It keeps saying "The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware."
Thanks

I went to start/control panel/performance and maintenance/system/hardware/device manager....
right click on yellow question mark and update driver, you can use the dell drivers that suck or the mobileforce drivers from tweaksrus -
You might need to replace the INT file if you're going to use a driver not authorized by dell.
-
Well, MobileForce made me blue screen... -
-
Okay, MobileForce 83.90 worked but only increased my 3dmark05 score by about 200.
What am I doing wrong? -
Download these - http://www.tweaksrus.com/index.php?option=com_docman&task=doc_download&gid=592&Itemid=41/
They're the latest drivers for GS versions of graphics cards. Like the GO7800. -
-
Your also not going to see much change unless you OC the GPU.
-
Thanks all for replies. -
i dont know much about overclocking but there is a section in this article about overclocking the 7800.
i think the information you are looking for and more might be there.

I dont like suggesting overclocking, however, considering you are planning on doing it anyway...
Without voltage modification I have found that 7800GO runs quite well (no artifacts) at 360 / 820 with very little difference in heat.
3DMark Scores at those clock speeds are consistant with 6800 Ultra. Stock is more in line with 6600GT.. still not bad performance stock. -
Thanks mento!
That is a great article.
So here's what it boils down to: What is the legal definition of "overclocking"? Is turning the clock speeds up when they've already been turned down by Dell considered overclocking? Or do you have to turn them up past what NVIDIA says thehy should be (hence the question, what does NVIDIA say they should be?) or would you have to go as far as increasing the voltage to the GPU?
Edit: Well, at least as far as Dell is concerned, here's the whole story:
http://support.dell.com/support/top...ument?dn=1012232&l=en&langid=1&c=us&cs=&s=gen
But I'm not even sure I care anymore, as I haven't yet heard any horror story involving merely upping the clock frequencies.
Thanks to everyone. -
Hey, everyone. I recently did a fresh install of windows on my new E1705. After installing all the needed drivers, I ran 3Dmark05 and got a score of 1389. This is a lot lower than what I have seen other people getting and I would like to know what I'm doing wrong. I have the go 7800 w/ the Xtreme-g Mobileforce 84.25.v2.30 GS drivers. Any help would be appreciated.
-
I would try installing Nvidia's drivers - I've got the 84.20 Beta one, and it works superb. I've tried Omega and MobileForce, but they don't seem to work as well as the Nivida ones (with my experiences).
-
) Also, what would be a normal score for this card?
Edit: One more thing. I see that these aren't the latest drivers. (84.56 appears to be) Would you recommend using these? -

Hi vash.
I just did this, and have tried almost all of these options being mentioned, and I recommend the drivers from LaptopVideo2Go.com. They're clean and simple, in that they're merely the NVIDIA drivers with a modified inf file.
Step 1: Go here: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/index.php?drivers
Step 2: Download one of the versions listed, right now they're recommending 84.25, which is what I'm using and it works fine. Also download the inf for that version.
Step 3: Run the executable to extract all the files, then replace the inf file with the one you downloaded.
As a caveat, don't expect just the drivers to dramatically affect your performance. From stock Dell to this I went from 3870 to 4080 in 3dmark05. To truly unleash this card you need to use the overclocking utility (that is not included in the Dell drivers, and is not covered by your warranty: see my last post).
Hope this helps. -
Edit: BTW, what would you suggest as a good overclocking utility (I've heard of something called volt mod but heard it might be a bit unstable)? -
Display Properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> Geforce Go 7800 -> Clock Frequency Settings
A couple people have posted their clocks in this thread. -
is there any way to voldmod the 7800go and is it worth it?
-
I just installed the forceware 84.56 drivers. I haven't overclocked at all, but my idle temp is fluctuating between 71 and 81 degrees. Why is it so hot? Am I doing something wrong?
-
What other drivers have you tried? What temps?
-
-
You might want to try the mobileforce 23.90 from tweaksrus...I hang around 68 idle
Then report temps -
I can't seem to find 23.90. All the versions seem to be in the 80's. Also when I was using the mobileforce before, my 3Dmark05 score had dropped to around 1300.
-
Well I downloaded the newest mobileforce drivers and decided to try and overclock it to 360. My temps are exactly the same as before so I guess they don't really matter. If anything, my laptop now feels cooler to the touch! So now I only need to find out if there's a way to keep the fans on constantly.
-
I downloaded the 84.25 drivers and did the "detect optimal freq's" and it came up with 196 core and 897 mem, these seem to differ pretty significantly from what most people are posting. The core maxes out at only 200 and the mem clock seems kind of aggressive. Is this normal?
-
With the LaptopVideo2Go modified inf my temperature stays right around 64C
E1705 7800 drivers
