Hey people,
I was checking my driver version & date, and the version is 8.4.2.9 (03-21-2006).
I find this strange due to the fact that I purchased my E1705 in mid November 2006. Don't the drivers seem a bit out-dated?
Are there any latest drivers I should update to? I want to stick to Nvidia Drivers only, not third-party drivers.
Also, im upgrading to vista in about a month; Is there anything I should worry concerning drivers?
Thanks.

The latest Dell drivers are dated 6/6/2006, v.84.69. If you want any newer drivers, you'll need to install a set of reference drivers. I know there are custom ATI drivers for laptops, so I'm sure there are some for nVidia.
If you are upgrading, I would visit the Dell download site and grab the latest Vista drivers for all of your hardware. -
I'm not sure if i have bad luck or its the drivers but after updating to Dell's Chipset Vista drivers, I have been having all kinds of issues. when installation, the system crashed hard and i started to get the Parity Error when installing video card drivers. I did a test and did it 3x to verify my problem and 3x's my system crashed when installing Dell's Vista Chipset drivers and end up getting a Parity Error when updating the video drivers from LaptopVideo2go drivers.
then again it could be my machine but my machine never had issues installing Dell's chipset drivers in XP and never had any Parity Errors after installing the video drivers from LaptopVideo2Go. -
You can always tryout www.laptopvideo2go.com, which has custom drivers for different Nvidia graphical cards and they run great!

every time i try to install nvidia drivers outside of the ones provided by Dell i get a error message that says it cant detect compatible hardware..

you have to use their modded inf files.

Try using a driver from laptopvideo2go.com. Make sure you download the inf file as well.

I actually got issues using their drivers on my E1705. I even had used Driver Cleaner Pro to cleanse the system of the old driver prior to installing theirs. All steam based games would crash and the display would get screwed up until I either restarted the computer or reinstalled the drivers. Just so that you know... If you use drivers intended for a desktop on a laptop that YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary).
