I have an old Dell 8100 and I can plug in dual batteries and still have my CD/DVD player/burner installed. Is this possible with the E1705 or the 9400?

No, the E1705 is only capable of charging one battery at a time. I wish it had dual capabilities, but I guess because of the size and weight of it, they didn't give us that option.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking about ordering 2 batteries if it would hold them.

Well if you plan on using your battery for power for several hours, then it might be best to get 2 batteries. Depending on what your specs are, a 9 cell battery might only give you 3 hours of power.

If you need all that time, you can just use up the first battery, hibernate, and pop in the second battery.
