All you E1705/9400 owners out there, how often does your CPU fan turn on to slow, medium, and fast?

I only have two speeds. When ripping or smashing video the cpu fan turns on low now and then. I have never noticed fans on high, CPU or GPU but i haven't over clocked anything yet.

    You got fan problems?

That's a good question, you tell me.

The CPU fan runs on slow almost perpetually, I'd say probably 80-90% of the time. It runs on medium on and off during moderate loads such as gaming. I've only heard it run fast a couple of times, namely during 3dmark CPU tests. On high it howls, but I've never experienced that other than in severe stress tests. Nothing is overclocked.

The GPU fan is always at least on low, where it is hardly noticable, but then again I'm not concerned about that fan.

Nope, my CPU fan only comes on now an then but under gaming i only watch the GPU. I would say the CPU fan spins up low every 15 minutes or so surfing and such. Do you use IK8fan to monitor your temps, and are they running high?

If you have any doubts call dell. My MB was replaced right out of the box due to NO fans coming on, ever. Dell burnt it up testing it!

I downloaded and installed Ik8fanGUI, and here's what I see:

The fan will run and the temperature levels off at about 31C and the fan will continue to run for several minutes with no change in temperature. Then the fan will turn off for seemingly no reason, at which point the temperature rises, over about 1-2 minutes, to 46C, at which point the fan will turn on again.

Is this normal? (Fan runs for 15 minutes, then is off for 2, repeat)

    I have a T2500

IMHO, no! Unless you have some process running hard in the background. Anyone else?

Boot up by holding down the FN+POWER key together. This will run the internal diagnostics and run the sensor test several times..see what happens.

edit; mine kicks on at 34 or so runs 15-30 seconds and off around 25 degrees via I8Kfan to monitor only.

With the rather high temps in the e1705, I would recommend running the fans on low at all times, unless you have an X1400 in there or integrated graphics. That's what quite a few ppl do.
