My current laptop is the following
Inspiron e1705
YONAH, T2500 2.0
Bluetooth, 355
wifi
90W extended battery
Dvd+/-rw, 8X, Sony Sullivan
Liquid Crystal Display, 17, WU Video Elec. Stds. Assoc., GlareWide Viewing Angle, LG PHILIPS LCD..., V2
nvida 7900 gs
80gb 5400
Nothing amazing by any means but my concern with the replacement is getting an equal or better graphics cards. Now I may be wrong but from my understanding the TI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 in the studio 17 is a slight downgrade from the 7900gs .
Update* called Dell earlier today for update on replacement and was told that I will be receiving a New( Non refurbished ) replacement but exact model details wasn't given .
My question today is to what model and specs laptop would be an adequate replacement?

I had a similiar system as you, e1705 nvidia 7900gs, and my replacement was a refurbished XPS m1730 with a nvidea 8700 duel sli graphics card. I personally wasnt a fan of the M1730 but others love it. The specs were great though and an upgrade across the board from my e1705. I needed something less flashy and with more portability though. Let us know what they end up sending you

If you do not get what you paid for, you need to raise a stink. There are always escalation paths.
