    Hi all,
I was recently able to borrow an E1705 to replace my old HP that died. However, I'm having some issues getting my external monitor to work on this new notebook the way it did on my old HP.
Even though I have the power settings to when the notebook lid is closed "Do nothing", when I close the lid, it switches the primary display to the external monitor. Opening the lid restores the notebook screen as primary.
On my HP, I used Ultramon to enable/disable the external and closing the notebook lid would have no effect on the external, whether it was enabled/disabled/extended/cloned/single/whatever. I want to be able to do this again.
This is on an E1705 with Intel GMA950, latest drivers from Dell. Could it be a bios issue? Also, I'm using the DVI connection on the Dell, whereas I was using vga on the HP. Does this matter?

    Thanks

I might be able to help. What are you trying to accomplish exactly though. You want your laptops screen to be the main and the external monitor to be the secondary even when you close the screen

Yeah basically. I don't want it switching back and forth all the time and I don't want it to enable the external if it's disabled when I close the lid.

Tried vga, and also upgraded system bios to A07. Still does it. Rather annoying as I want to be able to just shut the lid and walk away/go to sleep without the display on all the time. =(
