It could be your video card. If you have the 7900 GS or 7800 GT, you're fine video card-wise and the problem is somewhere else. But the ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 might not be able to handle HD video, and the integrated Intel option for the E1705 almost certainly will not be able to handle it.

To find out what type of video card you have:
*Click on Start, right-click on My Computer, select Properties.
*Click on the Hardware tab, and then click on the Device Manager button.
*Click on the + arrow by "Display adaptors". The video card name should come up below Display Adaptors.

This is assuming you have XP; if you have Vista post back and I'll see if I can remember a way that works in Vista. Once you know which video card you have, post back here. That'll be important knowledge in determining if the problem is a software problem or from lack of sufficient hardware power.

If you do have the X1400 or 7800/7900, you might want to try viewing the video in another program (such as Windows Media Player or VLC player) and seeing if the choppiness still exists there. If it does, it's probably a case of the video card not being powerful enough.

The integrated video card is not upgradeable. Unfortunately, there is no way that you will be able to view HD video. Also, note that, as per apple.com/itunes/download, "Playing HD-quality videos purchased on the iTunes Store requires a 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or faster processor ".
