    Hey guys,
I got my E1705 today from dell. I like it very much, beside the fact of the light leakage. I contacted a Dell Representative and he told me that they would get UPS to pick it up from my house, and then repair it for me. I told him that almost everyone who gets this laptop has this issue, he said that he understood and dell would be notified (which i think is bull because its been like this for like 6 months). So, im going to be sending this to them soon, but not anytime too close in the future. I thought I'd let you guys know.

I had a very similar experience 2 months ago (w/ the WXGA screen). There was a 2inch strip at the bottom of the screen that was twice as bright as the rest of the screen. The overall backlighting was very uneven.

After calling Dell, they sent me a box to ship the E1705 to their service center. When it came back, the screen was exactly the same as when it left. It was as if they did nothing!

So in the end I returned the notebook, ate about $30 in shipping it back to them. Hope your experience turns out better.
