I've owned the E1705 for several weeks now. We are very, very pleased with it so far. I do believe that I've discovered a bit of a design flaw with the "One Touch Media" feature.
If you power up the E1705 using the "One Touch Media" button my external speakers don't emit any sound. But, the control functions on the speakers themselves work! (i.e.; Mute, Skip, FF, Volume...) I'm suspecting the USB drivers associated with my external speakers don't load when powering up using the "One Touch Media" button. I have the Logitech V20 USB speakers attaced to my E1705.
If I power up normally and log into XP no problem, speakers fully functional.
If I'm operating in XP and then select the "One Touch Media" button in order to go into the Dell Media mode - no problem, speakers work.
I've addressed this with Dell who suggested that I install the latest version of Quickset - it didn't work. Then, they recommended that I install the latest version of their drivers - it didn't work.
I consider myself above average when it comes to troubleshooting but this one really has me stumped. So, I can only assume that it is a driver issue. Device Manager is clean.
Sound/Audio in Control Panel has my Logitech speakers as the default and Speaker Settings / Advanced is setup as Desktop Stereo.
Settings feature in Dell Media / Settings / DVD / Audio only has 2 options - 2 speakers or headphones.
I've set my Logitech as the default in Windows Media / Tools / Options / Devices / Speakers.
Any of you experts out there have any idea regarding this?
Many thanks in advance!
