Hello, I just got my e1705, and I have two primary uses for it. One for college school work, light office task type stuff.
Two I'm an avid gamer.
I've noticed it does get a little hot, but that really hasn't bothered me much till I get into longer hours of play.
So my concern is, is it safe to play for extended periods of time? I'll have to be more careful about covering the vents since I normally play in my lap.
But I'd rather not have the computer melt, or explode while sitting on my skinny little legs.

I'd suggest getting some sort of cooling pad for it - the Targus Chillmat (reviewed here) is a good platform for it to rest on.

I say you just prop up your notebook a inch in the back and allow some air to get in there. Mine doesnt get that hot. I wouldnt worry about it too much.
BTW get the I9KGUI fan control, it will help cools things down a lot! -
I've played for about 8 hours straight call of duty 2 and it was just cool to the touch so check to see if something might be blocking some of the fans because i have been nothing but impressed with the cooling of it.

nahirk, what video card do you use? I think it makes a big difference if you have for example the slower ATI or the Gefoce 7900...

I was playin BF2 last night on my bed so there wasn't any like opening or space on the bottom for airflow. I just kept moving it around so that it wouldn't be sitting on the same hot spot for the 4 or 5 hours that I played. It was fine.
