For about the past 6 months, I've had a hard time booting up my E1705. It's something mechanical it seems because it'll generally takes about 5-10 tries to hit the power button "just right" to turn it on. When it's an unsuccessful attempt, the power light will turn green for 5 seconds and then turn off, and then I have to attempt again.

Is this a problem that anybody else has run into, and does Dell fix trivial issues like this without having to send the notebook in?

Hmmm, I think my friend had this problem with his laptop as well.

It may be a power supply issue, if I recall that was his problem, his laptop wouldn't boot sometimes, and he would have to power it up constantly and stuff.

The only thing you can do is contact Dell and ask. Unless you bought the onsite warranty, I'd expect you'll have to send in the laptop.

Just as Kego suggested, there really isn't anything we can do. If it was a software issue, we could probably fix it, but from the sounds of it, it is a hardware issue.

Dell will fix any issue that you have as long as it is hardware related. Unless you have the on site warranty though, you'll have to send it in. If you recently purchased your laptop (within the past 30 days), you might be able to talk dell into a replacement.
