I was wondering if all the E1705 Widescreens come with TrueLife and are the really high resolution, or if there are different models/versions of the wide screen.

    Thanks for the help!

There are different versions. The ones that come with TrueLife say so. A WUXGA plus is a really really high resolution screen, it may be hard to see text. XGA+ I believe is 1650 x 1080 pixels. That is the resolution I have and it is great for me. Best thing to do would be to go to a store and check out some different resolutoins to see which one you like best. Hope that helps. Specs on you system look amazing, may want to consider a 7.2k RPM HD though. Definately opt for getting the RAM on newegg.com too, it will be much cheaper.

WXGA+ is 1440x900 I think, WSXGA is 1680x1050 and WUXGA is 1900x1200. Imho you HAVE TO get WUXGA if you get e1705.

The E1705 comes only with the standard WXGA+ screen or the WUXGA TrueLife screen - they're isn't any option for a WSXGA screen unfortunately.

If someone has a WUXGA screen on their E1705 could they tell me what they like about it and the pros and cons of it? Thanks

Pros: Amazing quality, amazing color, videos look amazing, gaming is amazing. The gloss is amazing. Video quality is better than HD, i've never seen things so sharp and the color so good. Its really a joy to use the laptop.

Cons: Text can be a little small, but you can increase icon size with no detrimental affects but if u increase dpi, text size improves so its not a strain on your eyes however it often messes up the layout of websites.

Conclusion: I love my trulife screen, the size is amazing the quality and gloss is amazing, i have gotten used to the small text(it really isn't too bad) and you can always increase the resoultion to the same as the WXGA, so there is no reason not to get the trulife.

the pros outweigh the cons. almost every UXGA is better quality. this question has been asked a million times, and the answer to it every time is to get the UXGA.

search and youll uncover a lot of stuff about this

I also recommend the WUXGA screen as well - its much better than the standard WXGA+ screen that comes with the notebook if your eyes can take the smaller text or can stand the larger, slightly larger (and distored) icons.

i love my WUXGA+, having come from a matte(not glossy) 1600x1200 15 inch screen. the text does get a lil small, but u can make them larger, and when writing with like word, that's not even a factor. but yes, if ur getting the e1705, theres no reason not to get the WUXGA, otherwise settle for a 15 inch instead.

if there was WSXGA it would be perfect (sorry for a little confusion earlier), but since it's absent from the line up you should get WUXGA or suffer. WXGA+ is just too small for a 17" screen.
