What is the best fan controling program for an E1705? If there is one for settings for while on battery and plugged in that would be great.

I second that. I8KfanGUI is a great utility for controlling Dell laptop fans.

i8kfanGUI is pretty much the best because it is made for dell laptops only and it works wonders with heat issues.
