    Is this the case?

Xps has pretty much the same build or is that just one of the
"bonuses" you get with getting an Xps?

    Thanks

The consumer laptops usually have a hardware limitation of 2GB...so no. I might be wrong though, as the M1710 does support 4GB and these two models might have the same motherboard...

Not 100% but I think you'll still be limited to 2GB, check the website.

Unless it specifically states that it will support more that 2GB RAM (Latitude and most XPS I think), I wouldn't bet a laptop on it.

You can put 4Gb in there, but only use 3.25 Gb (regardless of OS).

On the manual the maximum ram on this notebook is 4go like the intel chipset support. But, on the website, dell write the maximum ram is 2go. So, what is the right answer?

I know with my i8200, ram is spec'ed at 1gb total by dell..but everyone knows that actually it will handle 2gb just fine...dell doen't test the comps to the max...

    ?

I'm pretty sure XPx86 won't use more than 2gb of ram, but doesn't Vistax86 support up to like 6?
