    Is the E1705 graphics port type MXM III or something else? The existing board is GeForce Go 7900 GS, interested in upgrading to something with DirectX 10.

    The GPU connector is a proprietary Dell connector. The best thing you can get in there is something from the GeForce 7000 series (I think the 7950 GTX?).
