I just found out my Inspiron E1705 needs a new graphics card. Where can I find out which ones are compatible with my computer? Or can I just get whatever one I want?? I'm pretty annoyed since my computer is less than 2 years old. It seems like the one I have should have lasted *a lot* longer than it did.

Someone please let me know if I'm posting in the wrong place. I've posted two other messages today with no response. :(

Your best bet would be to grab a 7900GS from a later model E1705. These go for next to nothing (roughly $100 used on ebay) and will be a good upgrade from your old 7800.

This would be a good example:

E1705 compatible 7900GS currently on Ebay

Your only other options would be to downgrade (Big downgrade) to the ATI X1400, or upgrade even further to a 7900/7950GTX from an XPS M1710. I wouldn't suggest the ATI card considering how cheap the 7900GS's go for, and the 7900/7950s go for $300+.

Why couldn't I buy a graphics card from some place like TigerDirect? The specs seems okay and they have good prices. Or am I completely limited to the Nvidia Go 7900 or ATI X1400?

    Thanks!
