Hey guys i'm still having a heat issue with my E1705. Basically the keyboard on the right side runs super hot and when this happens the fan on the left runs full blast but the fan on the right is totally silent even when I run I8kfanGUI. Are my fans failing on me already?? :(

If you can't turn on the right fan using I8fanGUI, then you may have a bad fan. Call Dell.

If you don't mind opening your computer you can always check to see if there is something preventing it from moving. If you can't see any obstruction and unable to use programs to activate it then as Kegobeer said go phone Dell IMMEDIATELY!

i was experiencing the same problem on my dell e1505 until i realized the right side was only getting hot when the AC adaptor was plugged in. but when i went w/ the battery it would be as cool as the otherside of the keyboard, even during intense multitasking. hope this makes sense....

That still doesn't explain why the fan can't be turned on. I8kfanGUI is an application that allows you to turn on all of the fans, regardless of how the BIOS controls the fans. If the fan doesn't come on at all, there's a problem with either the fan or the motherboard.

Sup guys. Just an update to this thread. Dell sent some newer model fans for my laptop and the system was keeping cool but now it's acting up again. The right side of my keyboard gets super hot when i'm using it for gaming and I8kfanGUI is reporting that the GPU is reaching heats of up to 83 degrees celsius?? I have an older GPU it's the GO 7800 any of you guys have experience with this? Or is this normal?
