Get whatever you can afford. I was pimpin on a budget when I got my 9300, so I only got the 1 year warranty. The one good thing about the 1 year warranty is after that year, I NEVER have to deal with Dell again! :D I spent 1.5 hours on the phone for 3 CDs

Also, make sure you use this coupon 6C$03$J1734MS? for $650 off your laptop. Or wait for the $750 coupon to pop up again.

When I got my laptop, I got $100 off the 760 prossesor upgrade, $750 off coupon and free shipping. Also, don't forget to get the 6 cell battery and buy the extra 9 cell. This is only $30 extra for the 6 cell. Just get all the deals you can get from them bastards :p

boo coupons don't work on the new E1705's yet.
when you get the upgraded battery does it sit on an angle or is it just a better quality cell design.
It sounds like your not too happy wtih the dell and your 9300, whats your take on the machine ?

Your should take into account your budget, and how long you are expecting to use your laptop before selling or replacing it. Personally, I think going without an extended warranrty is a mistake - Being a poor college student, I can easily see myself still using my 9300 two to three years down the road, so I opted for the 3 year warranty.

(I've had to use my warranty once to replace my DVD-Burner.)

The battery isn't physically any larger... The 9-Cell is just able to hold a greater charge than the Six (Hence the added cells).

I got the three year warranty when I bought my i9300. The warrany is great because if a part fails, you get a new one at no cost.

I am very happy with my Dell 9300, but I am NOT a fan of the company.

Anyway, the 9 cell battery is a $100 upgrade. If you keep the 6 cell, the extra 9 cell is $130. They are both the same size but the 9 cell is heavier.

I bought the warranty for my pc and have enjoyed having it. Peace of mind at the least and of course if anything does go wrong you'll wish you had it! My mobo alone would cost me 500 dollars thus paying off the warranty. both of my warranties have paid themselves off and then some!

I bought a Latitude several years back and paid for the extended warranty. About 1.5 years later, it just started shutting itself off. Dell came to my apt and replaced the motherboard. That didn't fix it. They replaced the power cord, then the hard drive. That didn't fix it. Then they sent me a brand new, at-that-time current system. As you can guess, I'm one who thinks Dell's customer support is great.

This my third Dell now and am about to purchase my 4th. It's time for better gaming possibilites. I'm looking at other brands, but I keep coming back to Dell.

Long winded way of saying, I vote for the extended warranty. :p
