    Hi guys,

I'm thinking about getting a laptop, either the e1705 or e1505. I want to know if the e1705 has any heat issues with the go 7800 and if it is a battery-draining monster. So far, I've listed the pros and cons of e1705 and e1505 as follow:
    e1705:
    pros:
-with the go 7800 its a gaming beast
-i can get it for the same price as the e1505
    cons:
    -gigantic
-heat issues with the go 7800 (what I've heard on this forum)
-short battery life, even with 9 cell, due to go 7800 (what I've heard on this forum. Also, can some of you who has this laptop give me a rough estimate of battery life?)

    e1505:
    pros:
-more versatile than the e1705, but it's still big
-good battery life (what I've heard on this forum)
    cons:
    -video card isn't that great

My main use of this laptop will be for general work. I'll be using it as a "college laptop", as I am going to college next year. I will do some gaming on this computer, but I will not do a lot, considering that I will bring my desktop as well just for playing games like Counter Strike: Source and those other video-demanding games. Personally, the e1505 seems good because it has great battery life and is versatile, but I think I will get the most for the price out of the e1705. However, the problems that some of you on this forum have mentioned concern me greatly. Can more of you guys verify this? I would appreciate any feedbacks. Thanks.

One more thing. Would the e1405 be another consideration? The only thing I don't like about it is its video card. The integrated 128mb is pretty much ****.

The X1400 is not as bad as some people say. It will play any games out. It will struggle next year, but I will over clock mine to keep it up to par. For example-- It will play Age of Empires 3 on the highest settings. It will play Counter Strike Source on med-high settings. It will play oblivion on med settings(somehow my friend got his ati x200 to play obliv) It will play Morrowind on high settings. Hmm so those are the games I play. I coulden't really ask for more out of my card. I like my E1505. I could not justify paying so much more for a card that will only be slightly better. By next year all of these laptops will be obsolete anyway.

Btw.. the E1705 is HUGE. Imagine taking your regular desktop and increasing the size by like 45 percent. That is kinda the diference. You definitly would have to have a duffel bag or some special case. Mine plays Counter Strike Source Flawlessly

It will play source, but you will not like it. My friend plays Source with intel intergrated, and it takes around erm 1 1/2 minutes just for it to stop lagging.. and by then he can't even buy weapons on some servers(some servers only let you buy weapons in the first 15 seconds)

The E1705 IS gigantic! If you spend more than 10% of your time traveling, get the 1505. Otherwise, the 1705 is good. I have the 1705 with x1400 and 9-cell, and for just wireless internet browsing, I can get close to 5 hours. Running any games will drain the battery a lot faster though. Mine runs pretty cool unless I do anything that requires the processor or graphics card, in which case it gets too warm to put on your lap.

i have relatives who own both. e1705 is a Hummer. e1505 is more practical if traveling with it. I say.... if u travel with ur laptop more than 3 times a month, get the e1505.

There are 2 ways of looking at this:

    1) Go for the mobility at some sacrifice to performance. This will be more mobile, but with the performance hit. Easy to carry, not very heavy.

    2) Go for the performance, have to lug around a little, but is up to your performance standards.

Personally, I have an I9300 and I don't mind carrying it around, it isn't heavy in the bag. I can set it up almost anywhere.

As for e1705, hopefully a good fan control program and great laptop cooler will solve the heat issues. Then the e1705 will be the clear choice due to the7800 video card. Difference between a 15.4 and 17 is not as big of a deal as many say it is. E1705 in a backpack feels light.
