Is Core Solo a decent CPU? I might get it in an E1705 to keep the price down. Is the mobo in the Core Solo version the same as in the Core Duo one? Would I be able to put either a Core Duo or Merom (when it comes out) CPU in there by myself?

Yes the mobos are the same. You will be able to put a merom cpu in depending how easy it is to open a E1705 and put it in.

l think...but Merom may be using a diff. chipset.

I'm not sure about Solo -> Merom, but Duo -> Merom you can. So if what Unreal says is true, then yep - all of them...

So it's a safe bet that I could upgrade to a Core Duo later?
