    E1705: TrueBright or Matte?
I am almost ready to order an e1705, but unsure of which screen I want to get. My main concern is the extremely high resolution of 1920 x 1200 on the WUXGA screen. my primary use will be gaming and web surfing and will be getting the 7900 go videocard. how will games look if not run on native resolution. not all games spport such a high resolution.

while games today may work fine in native, games coming out in the future will have lousy framerate. In regard to the web, even if you increase the font, graphics tend to be messed up. increasing dpi which I will be doing on the WUXGA is fine for the desktop but not always good for the web as formatting on the page may get ruined.

Don't even think about getting the matte screen. I have it on a 620 at work and it is garbage, dim, poor viewing angle, fuzzy... I have the TrueBrite on my home Inspiron. Far far better.

Games are pretty much the only thing that tolerate being run at a non-native resolution.

You should go to a dell kiosk if there is one near you to see the glossy (they usually don't have the matte there.) I wouldn't get the matte either. The glossy is very nice. I wouldn't be worried about the resolution being too high unless you have terrible eyesight. It looks small for about five minutes then you get used to it.

I went to the dell kiosk and there weren't any glossy ones to look at.

my eyesight is not very good.

how does the web look and in particular graphics if you increase the DPI to 120 in the glossy screen

listen i have the e1505 with the trulife and the e1705 without it.

gaming on the 1440x900 non trulife is good

i do like the trulife on the 1505 but i think haveing the lower native resolution is better for gaming.
