Hi all,
My boss and I have ordered two Latitude E4300 at the end of last year, initially the Dell's sales informed us of the E4300 was unavailable because it was still in preparation, maybe delay about two weeks.
Last week I saw a message said that there are some problems of the CPU and MB of E4300, and Dell has stopped the global shipping of E4300.
My boss called Dell today and the sales said there is something needs testing and it must be waited till February, so it's a long long time...
Does anyone know what wrong with E4300? Why can probably wait for a long time?
Thanks!
Best regards

You are the second person/poster I've heard this from.
Which makes me a little worried since I just purchased an E4300 from the outlet shop. I'm hoping they have addressed these issues with the ones in the outlet store. -
My rep told me they were on engineering hold but didn't say why. Mine was ordered on 12/8 and is now in the boxing stage.

issues with the Intel CPU's - my company has over 50 E4300 effected. Dell will be releasing a fix on the 19th Jan, but im 99% this will be a motherboard/CPU change not a software/BIOS fix.

The E4300 is still onhold if you want the intel SP9400 CPU, but orders are now coming through for the SP9300 processor

Hi barr96!
What exactly is the source for your information?
I've ordered a Latitude E4300 with SP9400 on January 5th with an ESD of January 30th. Should I be worried?
edit: I live in Germany and ordered here in Germany, if this makes any difference. -
i work for an international company that use Dell for our workstations and laptops andhave over 100 E4300 units that are not working (lockup/hang etc)
Through my (corporate) Dell account manager i have been recieving weekly updates since the E4300 problem was found (also refer to below thread where me and other people have feed into)

I would question the ESD of end of Jan as the Sp9400 CPU is still an issue on this model. -
Oh dear, this thread really scares me.
Thanks for your answer. -

So far everything has been great. Came with Vista Ultimate license and was a downgrade unit so it came with XP Pro installed. I backed up the factory image and then wiped it and loaded Vista Ultimate. I have had no lockups at all. This unit performs great. My previous laptops were a D420 and D630.
This is a wonderful balance of those 2.
Specs:
Intel 9400 Proc.
4GB RAM
250GB SATA 7200RPM Drive.
DVDRW
5300 Wireless
410 Bluetooth
LED Backlit Screen
3Cell Battery
E-Dock Plus
Legacy Dock
I really like the unit. The keyboard is really easy to type on and has a fast action. The display is unbelievably bright. Only regret is that I didn't order the backlit keyboard.
Main drawbacks are only one USB port natively, but I did order the legacy expansion dock which has 2 on it and it is very light and no latch on the display.
Again, this little unit is a performer compared to the Dseries. I think the later D series was more stylish but I am sure this will grow on me. -
That sounds really nice! Thanks for your impressions.
Did you already test how much time you can get out of the 3 cell battery? -
Well, f**k those Dell guys!!
Two days ago they confirmed Jan 30th as delivery date. And today the status page says ESD March 16th. This is just hilarious. I will sooo cancel this order.
My first and last experience with Dell and their professional support, lol. It's a shame, it could have been such a nice notebook. But I won't wait almost 3 months (!!) for a notebook that I already paid ~2000€ for. And when I asked for a used replacement notebook until my E4300 arrives they weren't cooperating at all. This company sucks. At least in Germany.
Good luck to all of you. -
