I can't believe how long now it takes for dell to ship. In the past it just took 2-3 days only to get order shipped. Anyone has same experience?

Some people have had their E6400's shipped very quickly but this may depend on the hardware configuration.

You might want to visit the E6400 owners' lounge with your spec so that people there can comment on possible causes for the delay.

In Europe there are warnings on the order site about long lead times for the E6400. Did you check.

Where are you from? Mine took 6 days to be shipped from the day (9/4 - a Thursday) I ordered.

It took 6 days to arrive as well, though that was over a weekend.

I am in California USA. My configuration is quite basic, except that I added WXGA+, webcam, bluetooth, LED keyboard, ... and adapter to convert displayport to HDMI --> could it be the cause?

Probably the LCD, if I had to guess. Since you changed two things on the display panel (screen res and webcam) that may have slowed you down.

I ordered two EXACT same configs. on my E6400 laptops last tuesday 9-16-08. I am in Oklahoma. One shipped Friday (9-19) and arrived today (9-22) NBD delivery by DHL (they totally screwed up though which is a different story) and the other laptop is still in "testing" phase of production where it has been for 5-6 days. I called my dell sales rep and two sepearte customer service reps and of course no one really knows. They keep saying it is in production waiting on a part, but can't say which part. They can't tell me why the other laptop didn't have these delays, what the timeframe for delay will be, or even why is actually listed in the testing phase which should mean its already been built. Anyway thought I would share my experiences.

By they both were in testing less than 24 hrs after odering, but one went on to boxing right after for a few days which is the travel to the US, and the other remained in testing where it is today. Really frustrating to not be able to get a straight answer from Dell. I have ordered from them many times over the past 10 years and about 2-3 years ago said I never would again for the problems you all read about, as you can see that didn't hold true as I could not resist the new latitudes for my next computers.

Update: I called the phone order status number and it now says in boxing instead of testing. I guess calling 3 different people may have mad them realize something was wrong. I highly doubt it was ever waiting on a part, but probably got lost and then they actually went looking for it and found it hidden behind something, etc. So I guess it never hurts to have be persistant. Hope everyone elses gets taken care of too. I just opened up my 1 E6400 that did arrive (my wife gets the first one since her old computer bit the dust) and it is very nice and sleek. I am very glad I decided on the E6400.
