I obviously have an older Dell (700m) laptop in which I have replaced the HD. I would like to keep the old one, for as long as it lasts, & use it as an EXTERNAL HD. I can find SATA drive enclosures all over the place & pretty inexpensively(~$8.00) as well. Trying to find a EIDE HD enclosure seems to be more difficult & the FEW I found were significantly more expensive($25). Any of you 'techies' know a reputable place where I can find what I need (reliable, descent speed) at a reasonable price?
Thanks so much!

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
If you want to buy something new at retail, I don't think you are going to see much under $25 for an IDE enclosure. You can still get some brand name ones on eBay pretty cheap; the performance really should not vary much from device to device; in fact your drive may even be the bottleneck depending on its age and capacity.

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
I'd personally stick with Vantec. Their enclosures are nice, I've bought a few of them, and they are cheap!. I've definitely seen a difference in quality with a 6 dollar IDE enclosure and a 10 dollar one.
