I got into the EPP web page on dell and am a bit confused. When I price a system it either costs more or the discount is so small its not even worth doing through EPP. Am I missing something here? I thought they had very generous discounts for EPP (employee and afilitates purchase program).

Am I doing something wrong when I configure the systems?

To me its cheaper to use the NBR coupons.

If you haven't noticed, EPP usually forces you to pick their 2-4 year warranty which really boost up the price. So it actually depends on you, it you are going for that 4 year warranty then i guess it cost less if you actually configure it regular with the NBR coupons. But if you are like me and go for 1 year then i say for the the regular configure. That's my 2 cent.

I think your missing the discount. Ive got the EPP discount because of my college and on my $3000 system the discount is around $400. You need to configure your system, then go to the cart, thats where the discount is added in. If you havent done that then thats what your missing.

Oh I went to the cart and the discount was displayed but the fact that you have to get the 3 year warranty to get the total discount doesnt really leave you with a a price reduction. Basically, the EPP is a huge joke.

Yeah the 12% coupon that they give you is taken up by the cost of all the warranties. But if you look at it your basically getting 4 years of full coverage for free using the EPP deal, which isnt a bad deal at all.

EPP is only better when you get a coupon or discount cause you can get up to 12% off in addition to it.

When I bought my E1505 it was through EPP with a 40% off coupon + 12% (applied AFTER the 40% was taken off) + another $50 coupon.

Dell Home/SB couldn't touch that price (not with the same warranty). But EPP coupons don't come around nearly as often.

yea, i used EPP when there was another deal going on (that was automatic). normally, EPP cant compare to the home prices, but if you get lucky, you can save alot, and get a 3 year warranty for less than another laptop with the same config, and a 3 year warranty

As was said, you are basically getting a heavily discounted (or free) extended warranty, plus 12% off the already discounted price. I wanted 4 yr onsite 24/7 next day with complete care, and EPP saved me hundreds of dollars.

One other thing that I have noticed is that you seem to get better support through EPP. I have two friends that bought through Dell Home and when they call Dell they get the run-around, even the guy with same warranty as I have. EPP has their own returns department.

I've had no problems at all returning two laptops because newer video cards came out and a third is going back due to a power on issue. I also was able to call back and get a credit on my account for the price difference when a better sale came out. Not once did I talk to a Dell rep that was not happy to help.
